A little magic

Last weekend the girlies and I went to the Maryland Faerie Festival. Our fabulous friend Dawn was spinning her magic yarn in a booth.

Dawn was there with her baby sis who makes glorious felted things that make me grit my teeth with wanting. You can find her at www.tinymatryoshka.wordpress.com. I have a little mouse and an acorn tea set she made that I guard with my life. Away, dirty children!!

The festival was filled with all sorts of magical coolness....

....and fun stuff to do.

It was compact enough that the "big" girls could run free. Gearing up for the day when they will cruise the Ocean City boardwalk with nary a parent in sight. We only caught sight of them when they returned for fueling.

The "little" girls and I (and the only reason I am even daring to call them little is the slim-to-none chance they will read this. Otherwise I would NOT DARE!!) took a trip to the faerie woods to make wishes.

They both wrote their wishes on a magic wishing strip.

I have made a faerie promise not to tell the wishes, but I kinda had to know them, as spelling is an issue. After they made their wishes, they each found a faerie tree to hang them on. Taking some of the fun out of it was the shrewish mom/neighbor pointing them to trees ON the path, and NOT anywhere near the acres of poison ivy. A magic wish ruiner for sure.

THANKFULLY their wishes were MUCH more innocent this this one I found. AND thankfully the big girls never made it down here to make their wishes!!

But there really is some magic to be found. Even when you think you have seen it all.

And, in case you were wondering, at the first sign of Miss know-it-all-almost-ten-year old's explanation of why this couldn't POSSIBLY be real, she was silenced with the threat of tongue removal. I have waited my whole life to see a unicorn. She won't be a magic ruin-er!! Unless, of course, it involves poison ivy.
